Sammamish Children’s School’s Kindergarten Program
Full-day Kindergarten at Sammamish Children's School is an active and daily program guided by supportive staff and teachers of Washington State Common Core Standards. Young learners like your child will experience a journey of discovery and growth. We proudly nurture natural curiosity and a foundation for lifelong success.
Sammamish’s Kindergarten Curriculum
Embarking on their literacy journey, your kindergartener will explore the magic of stories through engaging read-alouds and interactive activities. Students will bravely recognize letters and sounds, and take great steps towards reading excellence. Students are encouraged to express their thoughts and ideas with drawing, storytelling, music, and academic writing.
Numbers & Logic in Kindergarten
Your child will engage in hands-on activities, manipulate objects, and play games of counting, sorting, recognizing patterns, and understanding fundamental shapes and numbers. These mathematical experiences build early problem-solving abilities and logical reasoning for navigating everyday situations and future academics.
Kindergarten Science & Investigating
Kindergarteners will make observations and conduct science experiments about our fascinating world of plants, animals, weather, and movement. The goal is to nurture their sense of wonder about the world, and cultivate the essential skill of asking questions.
A Sammamish Children’s Community
As students develop their role in the world, students can learn about their families, the school community, and the vast and diverse cultures around the world. Kindergarteners will be exposed to different perspectives and how to develop empathy and respect for peers.
Social & Emotional Learning
Kindergarten is a time for learning and growth in social and emotional intelligence. Through guided learning and use of Second Step, students can identify and are empowered to manage their feelings, practice self-control, establish healthy boundaries of empathy, and build budding relationships.
Creative Movement in Kindergarteners
Your kindergartener is encouraged to participate in the daily opportunities at Sammamish Children’s School of physical expression during outdoor recess at the campus playground, and dedicated and scheduled movement times amongst lesson plans. Combined with the artistic exploration projects of drawing, painting, music, and dramatic play, kindergarten activities are deeply rooted in self-expression and development of individual coordination.
Kindergarten Teacher-Student Ratios
Teacher-student ratios of Sammamish Children’ School are enforced so that your child receives the individualized attention and support they need to flourish in all these areas.
